Linden Leaf and Flower have long been used to induce sweating for feverish colds and infections, reduce nasal congestion, and relieve throat irritation and cough. It has sedative effects and is used to treat nervous palpitations and high blood pressure. It has been added as an ingredient in lotions to relieve itchy skin. Linden has been used to soothe nerves and treat health problems associated with anxiety. Linden leaves and flowers are calming nervine, antispasmodic, and is helpful in circulatory issues to help ease spasms and cramps that contribute to headaches, tight muscles, migraines, and menstrual cramps. Traditionally, the flowers have been used to treat flu, cough, migraine, nervous tension, indigestion, various spasms, liver and gall bladder disorders, diarrhea, and elevated arterial pressure associated with arteriosclerosis.
